RGS provides fiscal sponsorship to affiliated groups requiring a 501(c)(3) non-profit to accept grants or donations. Fiscal sponsorships will be as light-handed as necessary while still meeting the minimal requirements of a legally-recognized tax-exempt non-profit.
RGS exercises minimal to zero administrative control over groups being sponsored, requires only the minimum required reporting about how funds are spent, and makes clear any legal requirements about how funds are spent. RGS may request a processing fee for grant and donations processed to cover basic costs.
Currently RGS is a fiscal sponsor for the following organizations:
SubRosa Community Space
SubRosa is a non-profit, donation-funded space in downtown Santa Cruz for art and radical projects run by a collective of volunteers from the local anarchist community. It offers anarchist books and literature, gourmet coffee & tea, performance, events, and a weekly open mic, gallery art by emerging local artists, and a garden courtyard social space.
Union of Benevolent Electrical Workers
The Union of Benevolent Electrical Workers provides mutual support to anti-authoritarian groups making radical social change through direct involvement, connecting communities, and education.
Santa Cruz Guerilla Drive-In
Santa Cruz Guerilla Drive-In is an outdoor movie theater under the stars that springs up unexpectedly in the fields and industrial wastelands. Beyond showing great free movies year-round and bringing a broad community together, part of our mission is reclaiming public space and transforming our urban environment.
Santa Cruz Free Skool
Free Skool Santa Cruz is a grassroots educational project beyond institutional control. It is an opportunity to learn from each other and share what we know, to foster communities of mutual support and autonomy. The project strives to blur the lines between teacher, learner, and organizer. Free Skool is decentralized, with classes held in homes, social spaces, and parks.
